Surviving Divorce

There is a moment in the life of anyone getting a divorce when reality hits home: This is really happening. I'm getting divorced.

I get it! I've been there as well!

I believe if you find the right people to guide you and if you follow your heart, (lot of selflessness)

I promise.....you will be okay!

Sell or keep the house in a divorce?

Ask yourself these 8 questions before you decide

1. Can you afford to pay the mortgage, property taxes, and upkeep and not be “house poor?”

2. Can you and the children (if there are children) still go on vacations and live a similar comfortable lifestyle that you enjoyed before the divorce?

3. What rental options are there (cost, location, etc.), and what would those rental costs be?

4. Is there anywhere you can live to pay off debts and save money so that you can save up for a down payment?

5. Am I able to qualify for refinancing?

6. What significant expenses or repairs can I expect in the next couple of years?

7. How will I afford the monthly payments for the life of the mortgage?

8. Can I find another place in this school district or a similar commute?

Going through a divorce requires the couple to make agreements on joint assets, like the marital home. But it doesn't mean that your only option in a divorce is selling your house.

Don’t be overcome by emotions and let them drive your decisions. Instead, make sure to consult with a professional attorney, accountant, financial planner and a professional real estate agent that specializes and has experience in Divorce sales.

Let's start by looking at all your options!
